Program Opportunities

Registering for Program - If attending as a troop, then the Troop Leader completes the Troop Registration Form and submits it to Council along with payment. If attending as an individual, then the parent or guardian completes the Individual Event Registration form and submits it to Council along with payment.  Unless otherwise specified, all Council programs require pre-registration to attend.  Only those registered one week in advance of a program will be notified of cancellations, changes or other important information and sent a Program Confirmation. Registration can be mailed in at any time. A waiting list will be maintained for all programs that have reached capacity. Payment for all programs is due at the time of registration to ensure your spot.

Tagalongs -  A tagalong is a child not registered in your troop, such as a sibling of any age.  The Council requests that tagalongs do not attend programs.  Chronic violation of this request may prohibit you from attending future programs.  Tagalongs are not covered by our Mutual of Omaha Insurance plan.  Examples of tagalongs are brothers, sisters, and friends, tagging along with a Girl Scout member to a program.  Tagalongs also include registered Girl Scouts not of the proper age for the activity, and non-registered participants of the program.  For example, a Brownie sister of a Junior Girl Scout is a tagalong at a Junior Girl Scout program.  The Brownie Girl Scout would not be covered by the Mutual of Omaha Insurance.

Fees - All fees for Girl Scout programs must be paid in advance.  Checks are to be made payable to Girl Scouts Golden Valley Council (GSGVC). Special Assistance is available for girl programs for those who qualify.  Applications should be submitted no later than one month prior to the date of the event.

Cancellations - If you are unable to attend a girl program after you have registered and been placed, please call the Council and ask to speak with the Program Specialist.  In some cases, refunds will not be available because materials and/or food supplies will have been purchased in advance.  Follow Council refund procedures.  Every effort will be made to hold programs on the scheduled dates.  You will be notified one week prior to the scheduled date if there are any changes, or a minimum number of participants are not registered.  Only those individuals registered for the event will be notified of changes, cancellations or important information.

Refund Procedures - Each event requires a $5.00 non-refundable deposit per girl registration.  Fees are non-refundable unless GSGVC cancels an event.  The $5.00 deposit is retained and the balance of the fees are refunded only under the following circumstances:

  • A participant withdraws, in writing, 10 or more days prior to the event.

  • The participant withdraws due to illness, injury or an immediately family emergency (a physicians letter must accompany the written refund request).
